"WE WANT CAKE NOW!" This is a little song that is always sung at birthday parties. On November 22 we celebrated the Quinceaño of three of our girls at the Oasis. The Quinceaño is a latin tradition that could be compared to our sweet 16 celebrations, only when they are 15 years old and about 100x the celebration. When going by a church it is often difficult to tell whether it's a wedding or Quinceaño, the only real give away is the color of the dress.
They dress up in gorgeous dresses, they choose "damas" and "caballeros," equivelent to a mini set of attendants, they have flowers, there is a beautiful cake, and a ceremony with rings. The event is the celebration of the girls entering womanhood. The pastor did a great job encouraging the girls to continue forward in their relationships with Christ and then there was a time of blessing and prayer over them. Here is a glimpse of the Quincañeras;
Sylvia, Lupita, and Darlin...
